Japanese group seeks approval for bone-treatment device in Asia expansion

TOKYO -- Japan's Teijin group plans to sell in Thailand devices used to repair misshapen bones, seeking to make up ground after a late start in a crowded domestic market.

Subsidiary Teijin Nakashima Medical will submit an application for approval for nylon guides and titanium alloy plates used in orthopedic surgery. To correct bones misshapen by fractures, guides are used to determine where to excise bone portions and the plates are used to rejoin bone.
